About professional roles

The Department of Communities and Justice offers a variety of career paths for people in professional roles from entry level to executive (Public Service Senior Executive).

Professional roles require reference checks on all candidates who progress to pre-employment screening. Offers of employment will not be made until all pre-employment screening checks are completed. Some roles may also require additional checks/clearances, which may include:

  • National criminal history check or fingerprint check
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) and other checks relating to working with children
  • Offender association checks
  • Conduct and performance checks (for existing public service employees)
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Qualification checks.
